About EDII

The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII) is a premier organisation dedicated to fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem. It was established in 2001 as a not-for-profit society by the Government of Tamil Nadu. EDII has been a pioneering institution in promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and in strengthening the startup and innovation ecosystem across Tamil Nadu.

EDII–Tamil Nadu functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of Tamil Nadu, and was formally reconstituted on 20 March 2022.

The institute also serves as the nodal agency for the startup ecosystem in the State. Since its inception, EDII–TN has trained over 2.33 lakh entrepreneurs through various programmes. It offers comprehensive training solutions spanning the entire entrepreneurial journey—from ideation to market realisation. Its diverse clientele includes students, aspiring entrepreneurs, existing entrepreneurs, and industrial clusters.

In addition to entrepreneurship development, EDII–TN actively supports research and promotes innovation in both the MSME and public sectors.

The programmes conducted by EDII are widely regarded as among the oldest, largest, most comprehensive, well-organised, and successful EDPs in the country.

• Delivering motivation programmes for officials
• Performance improvement programmes for existing entrepreneurs
• Competency development programmes for unemployed non-technical graduates
